Denny Hamlin Survives Martinsville

So far this year Denny Hamlin has had bad luck, but for once luck was signing down upon him as he won the race at Martinsville. When others were losing there cool Hamlin was able to control his and at the end he would take home the clock and the win at Martinsville.

Early in the season Hamlin has ran good, but it seemed something would always go wrong and cost him a chance to win a race. For once though that did not happen and he was able to hold on Mr. Martinsville Jeff Gordon to get his first win of the season.

Michael Waltrip Denies Roush Accusations

Michael Waltrip has another take of the missing part that he actually had and I’m sure Jack Roush will not like the explanation very much either.  According to Waltrip somehow the part arrived at his shop and when he seen it did not belong to his shop they put it aside. In January someone came looking for the part so he turned it over.

In Waltrip defense there are so many things laying around in garage areas that it probably got picked up by mistake and they did not realize it until it was to late. I can understand jack Roush being upset, but it water over the dam and he probably has learned to keep a tighter reign on his part now I will imagine.

BAM Racing To Try Toyota Engines

With the success of Joe Gibbs Racing and the Toyota program BAM Racing could be the next to follow suit and jump to Toyota engines. They are trying a Toyota engine from Bill Davis racing this weekend in the no.49 car and see how things work out for them. I’m sure if they have good success they may jump to Toyota as well.

This could become a problem for Nascar if teams keep jumping to Toyota and where does that leave other foreign engine i. Will they be the next to jump in. I’m sure the big three would not be happy about that at all, but like we said this is competition and you have to put in what you think will win for you. I guess only time will tell if Toyota racing engines are up to par.

Jamie McMurray On The Hot Seat

Jamie McMurray just awhile back was considered a very promising driver and now with his struggles there are whispers around the garage that he could be looking for a ride next year if things do not turn around for him. Has he lost his touch? Was he overrated?

No what usually happens is changes make a big difference that people really never see. It can be something real small or something larger scale. The bottom line is he is a very good driver, but struggling right now. He will get it turned around, but sometimes owners will not be patient so McMurray could very well be auditioning for another ride this year.

Scott Wimmer Wins Nationwide Race At Nashville

rpm_a_wimmer02_300.jpg

Scott Wimmer was able to pass teammate Clint Bower with 21 laps to go and gave Richard Childress Racing a win in the Nationwide Series as they continue to roll at RCR.  Carl Edwards was third and Brad Keselowski finished fourth. It looked for awhile that Kyle Busch would run away with it as he led 125 laps  before spinning out abd finishing 16th. Busch is probably the hottest driver in Nascar right now.

Wimmer was happy to be in the winners circle as he has struggle to make it there so any win he gets he will enjoy. Wimmer is a good driver who just has not performed the way he has wanted to. Maybe this will get him going in the right direction and more wins will follow.

Early Season Surprises

If you look at the standings in the Sprint Cup you seem something very interesting. Hendrick Motorsports was predicted to be 1-2-3 and so far that has not worked out. Kyle Busch who was cast aside to bring Dale Earnhardt Jr on board is leading the points followed by Greg Biffle, Kevin Harvick, and Jeff Burton. Seems so far in the early part of the season RCR is do real well while Hendrick Motorsports has struggled.

Now Junior is number five in the points while Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon is 13 and 14 in the points. I’m sure they will make that up with no problem.  Jamie McMurray is 36th in the points which is kind of a shocked to me, but besides that nothing really jumps out at you. Joe Gibbs Racing switch to Toyota has benefited both parties so far this season as well.

Jeff Burton Steals A Win!

It looked like Tony Stewart was poised for his first win of the Nascar season only to have Kevin Harvick bump him and send him out of the lead. Harvick’s teammate Jeff Burton quickly seized the opportunity and was able to win the race this week at Bristol. It was not a surprise that Stewart was not that upset about it as him and Harvick are close friends and Stewart sometimes drives for him in the Nationwide Series.

The real story was Dale Jarrett as it was his last points race of the season and he will be missed. He finished at the back of the pack, but he still will go down as one of the best for all he accomplished on the track. We will miss you Dale Jarrett.

Dale Jarrett Were Going To Miss You!

Dale Jarrett will be leaving as a active driver very soon and will be missed very much by fans and everyone else associated with the sport. Lucky for us he is going to the booth and help put his insight in the races each week as a broadcaster. Jarrett is a guy who is well respected by everyone. Winning the Daytona 500 is probably one of his biggest highlights considering his dad Ned was in the booth call the race.

No matter what Jarrett was a competitor who rarely complained and always put his best foot forward. Guys like him do not come along in the sport often and that is a shame as he will be missed.  His commercials with UPS were great and once he hangs it up Nascar has lost a good one that is for sure.

Tony Stewart Rant Not Well Timed, But Honest

Many people have a take on Tony Stewart’s rant about the tires that Goodyear brought to Atlanta and Tony Stewart made everyone know how he felt about it. You really cannot blame Stewart one bit as he is the one driving on the times. Yes, he might have picked a bad spot to do it, but the bottom line is he was honest and held back no punches.

If more drivers would be honest and tell the truth than maybe Goodyear would start listening to what is wrong with the tires they are bringing. Most people will not rock the boat, but with no Tony Stewart he does not mind capsizing the boat if needed.

Kyle Busch And Toyota Win Race At Atlanta

Kyle Busch has raced well all weekend long so it should not come as any surprise that Kyle Busch and Toyota won at Atlanta yesterday. Busch had a very good car and since Joe Gibbs Racing switch to Toyota this year it has been another great move. Busch also made it to victory lane before Dale Earnhardt Jr the other big free agent last year, plus Busch use to drive for Hendrick Motorsports so this makes it more special for him.

Maybe though the big news was the after race interview where Tony Stewart who again had another top run blasted the Goodyear tire that he had to race on. Most people will not tell you publicly how bad they were, but Tony did and I’m sure Nascar will have a talk with him. At least he stood up and spoke the truth. In my mind nothing wrong with that.
