Randy Moss Starting Truck Team

Randy Moss and some investors is starting a Nascar Truck Series team that is scheduled to run a limited schedule their first year and the second year they will run the full season. This one should be very interesting. Has anyone noticed how more players from other sports are starting to own teams in Nascar.

As far as Randy Moss as a truck owner this could be a good thing for the sport. Moss should be able to bring in more fans to the sport and with ratings and attendance down at events this can only help that grow. Hopefully Moss will be able to stay awhile in the sport, but only time will tell.

Kyle Busch Stays Hot with Win At Talladega

Kyle Busch fell a lap down which usually the kiss of death at Talladega, but not for Kyle Busch. He got his lap back and was able to get back in contention to win Sunday’s race in dramatic fashion. Towards the end of the race cautions were the word of the day as wrecks seem to always happen towards the end of this race.

Juan Pablo Montoya was able to finish second and Denny Hamlin finished third.  Ryan Newman finished eighth and Dale Earnhardt Jr who many thought had a great chance to win ended up with a 10th place finish. Many people figured Junior had a good shot of winning here, but the switch to Hendrick Motorsports have not garnered him any wins just yet.

Tony Stewart Gets Win At Talladega

Tony Stewart brushed away all the talk about him leaving Joe Gibbs Racing and he went on to edge Dale Earnhardt Jr his close friend to win the Nationwide Series race at Talladega. It was a big win because this was one race track that Stewart has not won at and now he finally has a win.

David Stremme finished second in the race, but Sewart and Earnhardt Jr had the best cars by far. Just 10 laps into the race Dario Franchitti was involved in a crash when his right rear tire blew and sending him into the wall. Franchitti then got hit by Larry Gunselman and Franchitti suffered a broken ankle and will miss the cup race today.

Tony Stewart Maybe Leaving Joe Gibbs Racing

Tony Stewart has a contract with Joe Gibbs racing through the 2009 season, but do not look for him to finish that out. Stewart might now wants out of his contract to drive for 2009 so he can go drive for Haas/CNC Racing which it is said that he will become part owner of the team. Stewart has always drove GM products and is not to happy that Joe Gibbs Racing has switched to Toyota.

If this rumor is all true this puts Joe Gibbs Racing in a bad spot. Do they let Tony go or do they hold him to his contract through 2009. Either way it will be an interesting decision that they will probably have to make at the end of the year. My personal opinion do not look for Stewart to drive for Joe Gibbs racing in 2009.

Boris Said vs Marcos Ambrose

It seems we have the makings of a good ole Nascar feud as Boris Said and Marcos Ambrose are not backing off there comments from Sunday’s incident in Mexico. Both parties blame the other and nobody was really at fault it was just racing, but this is what happens when you want to win a Nascar race so bad. Said has not won as many races as he should have and he felt that this cost him the win.

Said  is the kind of guy who will pay you back for something like this so if I was Ambrose I would watch my mirrors real closely, because Said will get him sometime during another race. You can also count on that. A good ole Nascar feud is good sometimes and I guess we will see what happens with this one.

Kyle Busch Makes It Three In A Row

Maybe they should change the nationwide Series to the Kyle Busch Series as Busch won yesterday in Mexico to give him three straight wins in the Nationwide series and he may have to start thinking about the championship down in that series as he is doing really well.

Marcos Ambrose finished second in the race and Scott Pruett finished third, but the story was Kyle Busch with nine laps left pass the leader and there was no catching him as he made it three in a row. Can he make it four in a row? I guess we will find out soon enough.

David Pearson Takes Trip Down Memory Lane

rpm_g_pearson_edwards_580.jpg

David Pearson  climbed through the window of his familiar white Purolater 21 Mecrury and took some laps at Darlington raceway with Carl Edwards for a promotion on May 10. Pearson was one of the best nascar drivers ever and he had no problem driving around the track at all. In fact he went over 100 mph on his laps and probably would have went fast with a properly tuned car.

Many people feel that David Pearson could have been the best driver ever to suit up if he would have ran a full schedule. In his time as a driver he won 105 career races, three championships and had an amazing 18.2 winning percentage which is tough to argue against. No matter what David Pearson is one guy who was the best at what he did.

When Will Junior Win Again?

When Dale Earnhardt Jr left DEI for Hendrick Motorsports the wins were suppose to start mounting fairly quickly for Junior, but so far that has not been the case at all. He has had some good finishes, but his fans want to see him in the winner circle which he has not seen in a points race in a very long time.

What most people fail to realize and that is Junior is giving it his all, but things are just not like they were before. When he was dominate no one had cars to catch him it is the other way around now and it is tough. Hendrick Motorsports is playing catchup this year and he is with a new team that is going to take some time to get use to. Give Junior some time a year or two and he will be back in the winner circle. Even though his fans thought it would happen overnight with his move Nascar Racing is just too tough anymore to see things like that happen.

What’s Wrong With Jeff Gordon?

capt_092a2d3b330e498ba55af73e4bd49d69_nascar_martinsville_auto_racing_vamh103.jpg

The million dollar question that seems to be popping up around the garage area is what is wrong with Jeff Gordon. Well, maybe the answer is a lot easier than we actually think. Gordon and Hendrick Motorsports have been so dominate in the last few years other teams have finally stepped up to the plate and made it tougher on him.

No longer is hendricks alone at the top and other teams and drivers want to be the star for awhile so in reality nothing is wrong with Jeff Gordon he just has more competition than ever and once he gets things going he will be fine. In the end he is a very good driver and he will turn his slow start around. Always remember it is better to start slow than finish that way.

Jimmie Johnson Games And Wins

As the laps winded down and Jimmie Johnson with a big lead his competition thought he would have to pit eventually or run out of fuel. Chad Knaus kept telling Jimmie he would be okay but slowing down a little would help as Johnson had built a 20 second lead on his competition. Johnson did run out of gas, but it was long after the checkered flag so he did have enough after all.

Johnson’s win at Phoenix puts him back as a major player because he has struggled so far this season and nothing cures that than a win and that is what they got. When Johnson on his game and has a good car he is tough to beat. He proved in Phoenix he can play the fuel mileage game as well to get a win.
