Dale Earnhardt Jr has been on a very long losing streak, but Junior’s fan can rejoice this morning as he won at Michigan International Speedway yesterday to end the streak. It was up to 76 races without a win and he did it in a way Junior rarely does it and that is with fuel mileage. Junior had to save fuel at every caution he could just to be able to make it all the way. He did it and no matter what anyone writes today a win is a win no matter how you may get it.
Kasey Kahne finished second as he probably is the hottest driver right now. Since the Shootout race at Lowes Motor Speedway Kahne has been hitting on all cylinders week after week. Look out for him in the Chase if he makes it as he is on a roll.

Kasey Kahne was voted into the All-Star race as the fans gave him an opportunity to show everyone what he could do. He took his opportunity and now is one million dollars richer. Kahne in the last segment decided to gamble and not take tires which paid off as he held off Greg Biffle to grab the win.
In looked early in the All-Star race that Kyle Busch was the car to beat but he had car trouble and then Junior stepped up along with Greg Biffle and Carl Edwards, but in the end it was Kahne. You never really like to get your way into a race like this Kahne did, but having the fans vote you in makes it that much sweeter as well. Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon were two drivers many thought had a great chance were not that good all night long. It will be interesting to see what happens in the Coca-Cola 600 in a week.

If you look at the standings in the Sprint Cup you seem something very interesting. Hendrick Motorsports was predicted to be 1-2-3 and so far that has not worked out. Kyle Busch who was cast aside to bring Dale Earnhardt Jr on board is leading the points followed by Greg Biffle, Kevin Harvick, and Jeff Burton. Seems so far in the early part of the season RCR is do real well while Hendrick Motorsports has struggled.
Now Junior is number five in the points while Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon is 13 and 14 in the points. I’m sure they will make that up with no problem. Jamie McMurray is 36th in the points which is kind of a shocked to me, but besides that nothing really jumps out at you. Joe Gibbs Racing switch to Toyota has benefited both parties so far this season as well.

Now that Dale Earnhardt Jr has a new ride and new number it’s time to show his hand. Will Junior fulfill his promise as one of the elite drivers now that he is at Hendrick’s Motorsports? This is what everyone is going to want to see. No more excuses will be accepted as the equipment will be top notch so it’s going to come down to Junior.
Will he come through or continue to struggle and always be in his Dad’s legacy. I personally look for Junior to shine through and become the driver everyone knows he can be. He has all the tools now it’s all up to him and what he does with this opportunity.

Dale Earnhardt Jr unveiled his new number and sponsor today and it was what almost everyone expected he will drive the No. 88 and sponsored by Amped and Mountain Dew. This also doesn’t come as much of a surprise either. This should be a very interesting fit and I’m sure Pepsi sure likes this arrangement. They now can market there two biggest stars together Jeff Gordon and Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Getting number 88 has meaning to Junior as Ralph Earnhardt drove with that number and No. 88 has been in the sport a very long time. I guess in the end it was really the best number for everyone. I guess come next year we will see plenty of No. 88 hats and shirts at Daytona.
