If you look at the standings in the Sprint Cup you seem something very interesting. Hendrick Motorsports was predicted to be 1-2-3 and so far that has not worked out. Kyle Busch who was cast aside to bring Dale Earnhardt Jr on board is leading the points followed by Greg Biffle, Kevin Harvick, and Jeff Burton. Seems so far in the early part of the season RCR is do real well while Hendrick Motorsports has struggled.
Now Junior is number five in the points while Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon is 13 and 14 in the points. I’m sure they will make that up with no problem. Jamie McMurray is 36th in the points which is kind of a shocked to me, but besides that nothing really jumps out at you. Joe Gibbs Racing switch to Toyota has benefited both parties so far this season as well.

Looks like Kasey Kahne will be heading to court after all for the allege shoving incident of a security guard at Homestead Speedway in Miami. The court date is set for Jan 8, 2008 and he is being charged with misdemeanor battery which carries a 1,000 dollar fine and a year in jail. Gillette Evernham Motorsports supports their driver in this case and feel the truth will come out in the end.
Things like this happen and it makes no real sense I guess depending on how you look at it. It will be interesting though to see how this all plays out inside the courtroom. If I know one thing about the court system you can never tell what will happen that’s for sure.

Well with Christmas coming up I figured I’d make a list for things I want from Nascar that way they can get things right next year. Of course we know it will never happen, but let’s have fun with it anyway’s.
- Please Nascar can we actually show all the drivers and how they are doing. Sure the popular drivers are great, but you have fans of other drivers that aren’t in the Top 20. They are loyal fans too.
- How about getting a retired Series going with limited racing sorta like the IROC. I think it would be a hit and you could do it before the Nascar race. People would love it.
- Change your qualifying rules where if you wreck in happy Hour and it’s not your fault you go back to the back of the field. That isn’t fair.
- Let’s not forget the older drivers or the ones who don’t always finish in the top 20. We need to show support all drivers.

Am I’m lost or does it seem that Nascar is lost. Over the years watching Nascar they would take great care in remembering their roots and the drivers who put them on the map. It seems that on this Nascar has lost it’s way. They are more interested in promoting the youth in the sport which there is nothing wrong with that, but how about showing the veterans some love too. Over the years the older drivers are being shoved to the back of the line. To their credit they have been mostly quiet about it and hasn’t said much.
The facts speak for themselves and that is people are not watching Nascar like they were. They are slowly losing their fan base and that is a real shame as Nascar fans are some of the most loyal fans around. Yes, It’s official in my mind Nascar is lost and hopefully they will find their way again.

Word out of the Ford camp is the Fusion could run in 2008 , but look for the Ford Mustang to replace it in 2009. This would be very welcome to many people including Nascar fans. The Mustang has been around for a very long time and a collectors favorite besides being very popular as a everyday car.
Ford hasn’t really had a car on the track that has been real popular in recent years so adding the Mustang to the lineup could be a very good move on their part. I guess we will have to wait and see if it comes to pass. It will be interesting no matter what happens.

2008 should b a very interesting year for a number of different reasons. Let’s look over some of the big questions for 2008.
Will Dale Jr dominate in 2008? Will he finally get his championship?
Has Kyle Busch Found The Perfect home?
Will Penske Racing be dominate once again?
How will Indy drivers do this coming year?
All of these questions will be answered next year and beyond. It should be a very interesting year indeed. Oh by the way How many times will tony Stewart blow up? I couldn’t let him escape could I.

Dale Earnhardt Jr has just four races left at the place his dad built. In a way it has to be bittersweet for Junior. Yes he is leaving to go to drive for Hendricks Motorsports and will have great teammates and great equipment to run. On the other hand no one wants to ever leave something your dad built. Junior probably thought he would be at DEI until he died. Sometimes fate works in different ways.
Junior will find success at Hendrick Motorsports just like he has everywhere else he has been. I look for Junior though in the end to come back to DEI some point in his career. I guess we will see if that happens, but in life you can never say never.

With Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson going for the big prize where does friendships end. Will one of the two give the other a nudge to win a championship or will there friendship survive through it all. These are very good questions and I would say there friendship will last through this. They are close on and off the track, but a championship after all is a championship.
Both drivers want to be called Nextel Cup CHampions so look for both to toss the friendship issue out the door when they wind down this season. It’s about winning and making sponsors happy. Friendship last a lifetime, but will this one. I think so.

A Democratic official directed a staffer to send an email warning people to get shots before heading to Nascar races so they don’t catch something from Nascar fans. The repesentaive set it wasn’t meant in a mean way just a precautionary measure.
Meant no harm? You got to be kidding me. What official would say something like that? A person who doesn’t know anything about Nascar who just wants to bash the sport. I will tell you toss me in the crowd of Nascar fans anytime before you toss me in a room of congressman anyday. Nascar fans are the greatest and hopefully this congressman won’t get reelected if he has these kind of views.

Just as Nascar brings in new talent we lose older experienced drivers which have molded the sport that we love. Ricky Rudd is retiring and Dale Jarrett is scaling back his driving duties it looks like which is something I will miss a lot. The newwer drivers are great, but I still like the old school drivers too.
I guess everyone has to step back and see what is best for them and this is no different. I will miss Jarrett and Rudd as they have always been two of my favorite drivers. Both have gave there fans plenty of things to cheer for and will be missed by all.
