Michael Waltrip has another take of the missing part that he actually had and I’m sure Jack Roush will not like the explanation very much either.  According to Waltrip somehow the part arrived at his shop and when he seen it did not belong to his shop they put it aside. In January someone came looking for the part so he turned it over.

In Waltrip defense there are so many things laying around in garage areas that it probably got picked up by mistake and they did not realize it until it was to late. I can understand jack Roush being upset, but it water over the dam and he probably has learned to keep a tighter reign on his part now I will imagine.

Michael Waltrip started out last year hoping his new venture would start out smooth. It was anything but a smooth ride as his team got caught breaking the rules. Toyota had a black eye for awhile as Waltrip drove for them. Making races was very tough for Waltrip and Toyota early, but towards the end they became much better.

Fast forward to 2008 and it seems a new year brings renewed hope for both Waltrip and Toyota. First a year under the belt can never hurt and adding Joe Gibbs racing to the Toyota sure can’t help. In fact it should move the Toyota program forward much quicker. It also should help out Michael Waltrip out. No matter what it can’t be as worse as last season was for Waltrip or Toyota racing.

Morgan-McClure Motorsports has closed up their racing shop this past Friday after no sponsor could be found. After 25 years of race one of the more recognized people in the sport are gone. It’s a shame as in recent years they have really struggle to hit on anything good. When they were sponsored by Kodak some good things happen while Sterling Marlin was behind the wheel.

After marlin left though it seem things went downhill and they never could really recover. Hopefully a sponsor will come through and they can run Daytona but don’t look for that to happen at all. After 25 years Morgan-McClure has probably raced their last time. It’s a shame.

Way back when Nascar drivers used to race for 10 dollars and a 12 pack of beer, now they have million dollar contracts and motor homes and jets to go from city to city. This is how big Nascar has become and continues to be. Most people never realize how little some of the earliest drivers got paid, but they did it because they loved to drive. Some of these drivers no one will ever remember but they help shape the sport of today.

Drivers like Mark Martin, Bill Elliott, and Ricky Rudd understands what these drivers did for them and you could ask each one and they would tell you a different story about how they watched them as they grew up and turn their life into racing. More than not though these older drivers are forgotten and that is a shame. Were going to change that. We will start to profile some of these drivers right here so people can better see who paved the way for today’s drivers to make those million dollar contracts. it will be fun. Merry Christmas everyone!

Well with Christmas coming up I figured I’d make a list for things I want from Nascar that way they can get things right next year. Of course we know it will never happen, but let’s have fun with it anyway’s.

• Please Nascar can we actually show all the drivers and how they are doing. Sure the popular drivers are great, but you have fans of other drivers that aren’t in the Top 20. They are loyal fans too.
• How about getting a retired Series going with limited racing sorta like the IROC. I think it would be a hit and you could do it before the Nascar race. People would love it.
• Change your qualifying rules where if you wreck in happy Hour and it’s not your fault you go back to the back of the field. That isn’t fair.
• Let’s not forget the older drivers or the ones who don’t always finish in the top 20. We need to show support all drivers.

Do you realize that if this point system in place Jeff Gordon would have had another trophy on his mantle right now and maybe even two more depending how you look at it. Gordon who was the runaway points leader until the chase started and if no chase he easily would have won. Here’s the basic problem with the Chase and I will use Jeff Gordon as an example. Gordon was leading by a comfortable margin and once the chase started it was gone. Sure he made it into the chase, but in reality what did all those extra points do him. nothing really and their lies the problem with the chase.

Drivers aren’t rewarded for consistently or doing well it’s a point system that has flaws in it and will continue. In fact I’m sure someone crunches the numbers and has it figured out where they can run every race all year until the chase to make it. This is how many this system is. You watch people are going to beat they system time and time again. We need to change it and soon.

Word out of the Ford camp is the Fusion could run in 2008 , but look for the Ford Mustang to replace it in 2009. This would be very welcome to many people including Nascar fans. The Mustang has been around for a very long time and a collectors favorite besides being very popular as a everyday car.

Ford hasn’t really had a car on the track that has been real popular in recent years so adding the Mustang to the lineup could be a very good move on their part. I guess we will have to wait and see if it comes to pass. It will be interesting no matter what happens.

Greg Biffle had a rollercoaster year in 2007. He didn’t get the results his or his team were looking for. Biffle though isn’t someone to sit by and let things go. He is  man of action. 2008 should be a very different year for Greg Biffle. I see many good things coming from him.

It seems when a driver struggles one year they come back and have a great year. I look for Greg Biffle to do the very same thing. Biffle is one of the better Nascar drivers and should be at the top this coming year. Look for Biffle in 2008.

Cheating and Nascar seems to go hand and hand anymore.  Chad Knaus Jimmie Johnson crew chief was busted for it this past season and not a lot has been made of that. Others were also busted. My question is how deep does this really go. I think it goes a lot deeper than people want to admit.

In fact I don’t see it getting less in the future. I see more incidents of cheating. In fact I wonder how many never get caught.  I’ll bet the numbers are real high. Competition is so tough that it’s going to continue to happen.

the No. 28 has had a long history in Nascar racing. Stars like Cale Yarborough, Bobby Allison, Donny Allison, Davey Allison, Dale Jarrett, Ernie Irvan and Ricky Rudd have all piloted this famous car. Now it will be Travis Kvapil who will be behind the famed no. 28.

I for one am glad to see the no.28 back on the track where it belongs. Their are so many memories for fans that seeing it again will be a joy for many. Hopefully Kvapil will be able to get it back to victory lane. That would be great.
