Robby Gordon has announced he is aligned with Gillett Evernham Motorsports and will switch to Dodge this year. Ford was will to give Gordon more support, but he wanted something more financial stable in terms of marketing and sponsorship help. They will also provide engines for Gordon to use.
In the end this is prbably a good move for Gordon. He loss over 4 million when the Dakar Rally was cancelled and he just wanted some stable people to work with instead of searching every year. In my opinion this is a very good move for his race team and may see benefits from it real early.

The Dakar Rally cancellation hit Robby Gordon’s pocketbook hard. In fact it cost him at least 4.5 million dollars and he thought they could have at least run a portion of the race. The problem that Gordon has with the organizers is they had no backup plan just in case something like this happen. Gordon was getting closer to winning the event so this is a huge plow to him as it was one of his favorite races to run.
Hopefully it will return in some form next year and Gordon will get his shot. No matter what it cost Gordon in the pocketbook and I sure wouldn’t be happy with that part of it. In the end though safety does have to come first, but a backup plan would have been nice.

Robby Gordon couldn’t even tell you how much it pays to win if it even pays at all. This is how important the Dakar rally is to him. Drivers come everywhere to win this race of endurance where you race in all kinds of terrain and only the best equipment and the strongest survive this test. Gordon is one who loves this kind of racing and would love to add this race to his collection.
The toughest part about this race is you can break down at anytime and for Gordon it usually has been the wrong time. It doesn’t damper his excitement when he talks about winning the Dakar Rally or even the dangers that lie when you run this race. He just loves it and I can’t imagine the excitement if he ever won it.
