Ryan Newman Gets Help From Teammate Captures Daytona 500

rpm_u_newman02_412.jpg

Ryan Newman has not seen the victory lane in a long time so when he crossed the finish line as the winner of the Daytona 500 you cannot blame him for being very happy. It looked like for awhile though he wasn’t going to get there. Towards the end of the race many cautions did help him out as Tony Stewart had probably the fastest car, but that does not always guarantee a win.

Newman had something that Tony did not get to use and that was a teammate. Kurt Busch was behind Ryan Newman pushing him to the victory and without Busch he would have not won. Kyle Busch Tony Stewart’s teammate was behind him but to far behind to really help him so Tony finished third and was really not very happy. That is part of racing now they head to California.

Jimmie Johnson King Of Martinsville?

Jimmie Johnson was able to cut into Jeff Gordon’s point lead with a late pass to give Jimmie Johnson another win at Martinsville. Johnson seems to know this track so well and the setup that he will always be hard to beat.  Ryan Newman took on two tires at the end and took home second place.

Maybe the real story though was after the race where Matt Kenseth and Carl Edwards got into it. I have some You Tube video below that shows what happen. It was just another crazy week at Martinsville.

Ryan Newman Takes Pole At Lowes

8k.jpg

Ryan Newman has the pole thing all taken care of it’s winning races that has eluded him. Newman took his 42nd pole of his career with a 189.394mph lap at Lowes Motor  Speedway. he knocked off Jimmie Johnson who thought he was going to have it. Newman hasn’t won a race in two years, but he qualifies really well. The biggest problem seems to be can anyone stop Jimmie Johnson on this track.

Johnson seems to have figured it out real well. He has won five of the past 12 races at Lowes Motor Speedway. I guess he must know something that others don’t it seems. I guess we will find out if he makes it six this weekend. If Ryan Newman has anything to say about it Johnson won’t be getting number six while he’s their. I guess we will have to watch and see.
