Nascar Hands Out Stiff Penalties For Wing Mount Violations

Nascar officials made a statement by docking Scott Riggs and Johnny Sauter 150 championship points each and their crew chiefs have been suspended for the next six weeks due to violations on the wing mounts this past weekend at Lowe’s Motor Speedway. This is a bigger penalty than what Dale Earnhardt Jr received which was the biggest to date.

What is ironic about this whole infraction is another team turn these teams in for the infraction. Most of the time you really do not hear about other teams ratting someone out, but that was the case here. It could have to do with points position and making the race. With this penalty this means both teams make a freefall in points and it gives other teams a chance to make some races. Probably the teams that turn them in for the infractions.

Scott Riggs Signs With Haas/CNC Racing

Scott Riggs knew the writing was on the wall so it was time for him to move on. Riggs who is currently driving for Ray Evernham and wasn’t expected to be back has signed a deal to drive one of the 2008 Chevrolet’s for Haas/CNC racing. This is a good move for Riggs as Evernham might merge with Petty enterprises so he was probably without a ride anyways.

David Stremme is rumore to be the othedriver who may patrner with Riggs at Haas/CNC Racing, but nothing has been etched in stone just yet. I guess we will have to wait and see what happens with him.
